My Yankee husband thinks it’s odd that Southerners (he will tell you it’s specifically Savannahians) greet people with “nice to see you,” not “nice to meet you.” As I’ve told him, we’re just too polite to admit we might have forgotten we met you before. Hence, my standard reply to nice to see you is: “nice to be seen.” Better than the alternative of not being there for all the fun, don’t you think?
